Background: Ipomoea carnea Jacq is an ethnopharmacological drug and its leaves, roots latex are used for various indications by traditional healers. But seeds not in the treatment as they more toxic. As herbal medicines becoming endangered, can be efficiently available abundantly. toxicity should reduced safer use treatment. Aim: Seeds of studied present study to observe macroscopic, microscopic, physicochemical phytochemical changes after detoxification different media. Methods Materials: Detoxification method described Ayurveda was used. were subjected boiling three hours with Cow’s milk. The same procedure followed another sample separately Cow urine, sour gruel, Triphala (Emblica officinalis, Terminalia chebula bellirica) decoction Distilled water One raw kept comparison. transverse section seed studied. Microscopy powder, analysis all six samples conducted observations compared among samples. Results: toxic principle Swainsonine estimated 3% at retention time 3 minutes. numbers peaks treated except DWSIC comparison 2-4 observed 1-3 minutes A new phytoamine having concentration 12% detected 17 (crude purified) Conclusion: morpho-anatomical characteristics remain even being liquid HPLC may due antagonist antidotal action media detoxification.
